PHP

PHP is an open source scripting language that was originally designed for web development to produce dynamic web pages.

It's the most popular language for web development. A lot of small, medium and large sites are built on PHP (Facebook, Yahoo, TechCrunch, etc.)

There are a lot of great frameworks for PHP, that are powerful and flexible like Zend Framework, lightweight and fast like CodeIgniter, and other free, well-written and fully tested third-party libraries and modules.

Most commonly used CMS are written in PHP too, like Drupal, Joomla, Wordpress.

Biggest part of standalone blogs work on Wordpress platform that is powered by PHP.
